Our Projects
The Provincetown Theater is more than our mainstage season—we’re a year-round home for storytelling, conversation, and community. From our Winter Reading Series to ACT 3 and the B-Plot Series in collaboration with The Commons, we offer a wide range of programs that bring audiences and artists together throughout the year. These initiatives reflect our commitment to keeping Provincetown engaged, inspired, and connected in every season.

Terrence McNally Recovery Commissions
The Terrence McNally Recovery Commissions award two annual $10,000 commissions—one to an emerging playwright and one to an established playwright—each identifying as being in recovery. Over a yearlong process that includes a Provincetown writing retreat, an O’Neill Center residency, and a Works & Process showing at the Guggenheim, the commissioned artists support one another while developing two new plays.
The inaugural recipients are Jake Brasch and Craig Lucas—whose works the Provincetown Theater will present in a special reading series in 2026.
