2026 Season Auditions
Auditions are held at Provincetown Theater (238 Bradford Street, Provincetown) on the dates and times noted below. Actors are invited to sign in once they have arrived and will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Sides for both Small Mouth Sounds and The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe will be available at the Theater beginning July 20 during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 10-4 pm) as well as at the auditions themselves.
Small Mouth Sounds

TEACHER — A disembodied, androgynous voice with a strange, slightly accented way of talking.
JOAN — Late 40s, wears a lot of clothes and jewelry from India. She is a therapist and sex educator in colleges, high schools, and private practice with couples.
JUDY — Maybe 50, is Joan's partner. She works at O magazine as a top editor in the art department. She's the kind of person who needs only four hours of sleep per night.
ALICIA — 30-ish, strawberry-blonde (sometimes more strawberry, sometimes more blonde) from Southern California. She's the kind of person who manages to make a lot of noise even when she's "in silence."
NED — Somewhere in his 40s, has had a severe run of bad luck worse that the worst country-western song.
RODNEY — Mid-30s, ageless, fit, gorgeous, grew up in the Pacific Northwest and teaches yoga in New York and the Hamptons. He is married to a woman named Nadine who also teaches yoga.
JAN — 50ish, is from a small town in Finland. He misses his son. He is hoping maybe this retreat will have an answer for him, where more traditional religious experiences have failed.

JUDITH BEASLEY — 30s-50s, middle-class, American homemaker.
CHRISSY — 20s-30s, urban professional constantly on the self-help path of improvement.
PAUL — 20s-50s, divorced man looking for love.
KATE — 40s-60s, Manhattan socialite looking for relevance.
ANGUS ANGST — teenager, punk rocker rebelling against the world.
LUD — 60s-70s, retired, working-class husband of Marie; Angus Angst's loving grandfather.
MARIE — 60s-70s, retired, working-class wife of Lud; Angus Angst's loving grandmother.
TINA — 20s-50s, NYC sex worker, friend of Trudy.
BRANDY — 20s-50s, sex worker, friend of Tina.
LYN — 30s-40s, wife, mother, 1970s feminist activist
EDIE — 30s-40s, writer, feminist activist, lesbian.
MARGE — 30s-40s, fashion plate feminist, straight, troubled
Note: All roles to be performed by cisgender and transgender, non-binary, and other femme-identifying actors of any race. We are interested in creating an expansive femme cast.
