Cody Sullivan
Playwright-in-Residence
Cody Sullivan is a playmaker. He was trained in improvisation at Improv Boston and at the iO Theater in Chicago. He was a house performer at the iO Theater from 2015 to 2019. In 2019 he moved to Provincetown. During pandemic he began exploring solo plays and community plays. Since 2023, he has run his community theater project CODY PLAYS in the Wilde Theater at the Gifford House. He is the Provincetown Theater’s Playwright in Residence for 2025.
His Current Exploration: Seldom Remembered
Seldom Remembered is set in the Dune Inn, one of the last affordable guest houses in Provincetown. We watch as the new owner, Goose, comes to terms with the fact that she didn’t just purchase an inn, she purchased a part of Provincetown history. Who is responsible for keeping history? Are we responsible to keep our histories at all? What will erase us? Time? The sea? Ourselves? What artifacts will remain, if any?
Seldom Remembered is one of two plays in the The Dune Inn Cycle, which Cody began during his year as resident at the theater. He will be premiering the sister play, See Monsters, a solo work also set in the Dune Inn, at the Wilde Theater at the Gifford House, August 29th, 30th, and Sept. 5th and 6th.
