Dan Silver
The first Broadway show Dan saw was with his grandmother Jean Silver who took him to see Grease at the Eden Theatre. For Dan, that performance stirred a melange of emotions that live theater continues to evoke to this day. Not only did the show spark his fascination and life-long passion for going to the theater, it also shaped his undergraduate experience where he carved out a Theater minor to complement his Economics degree. Subsequent to spending a few challenging years in public accounting in NYC, Dan went back to school and earned a Masters in Business.
For almost three decades, Dan was fortunate to find a lane in which he thrived. He worked in foreign exchange for many years and loved his day job working for a few large financial institutions, all while living a double life, as most gay men of the time did, seeing as much theater as he could in the evenings and weekends. Then, as fate would have it, he happened to meet some theatrical neighbors in his building in the city, a meeting which led to a string of involvements with many Broadway productions over the past fifteen years. (He would like to give a special "shout-out" to The Prom, a highlight of those years.)
Currently, Dan spends every year sun chasing—"if poss"—enjoying winters in the south, shoulder seasons in NYC, and summers here in "the P." He is a long time member of the Provincetown Tennis Club and a daily presence along the rail at the Boatslip most afternoons. Joining the Provincetown Theater board this past year allows for a way for Dan to continue fostering the culture and the arts that make our town so special, enduring, and, even more so, communal.
